This week's movie is in the honour of my obsession with 21 Jump Street! As you all probably know this movie was based on the tv show (starring a gorgeous 20 something Johnny Depp) about a group of young police officers who work undercover in high schools to catch criminal teenagers. So, in the movie Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill play these really dumb cops who get put in the same program 20 years later. The story is then about how they are supposed to catch these drug dealers at a high school, but let's just say nothing really goes according to plan.
I absolutely love the tv show so when this movie came out I was ecstatic! It's a great remake and in general an absolutely hilarious movie. The tv series is more serious and dramatic than the film but that's what makes the film so great. Every scene is just spot on and even though you're laughing your ass off throughout the movie there is a seriousness behind it all that makes the story much more authentic.
The stars in the film are obviously Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill who were very involved in the making of this movie as they produced it and Jonah Hill wrote the screenplay. So the characters are written for them and their acting is just... outstanding. I don't think I've ever seen a comedy this outrageous feel so real before. Every single scene is awesome and real proof of how amazing these two actors are. Some other actors worth mentioning are Ice Cube playing the captain of 21 Jump Street, captain Dickson, Dave Franco as high school student Eric and Rob Riggle as hilarious coach Walters.
Without further ado, 21 Jump Street (2012) gets 5 out of 5 E's! If you haven't seen it yet, go buy it NOW!
